According to reports, Inter Milan has turned down Manchester United's initial bid to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana. Manchester United is actively seeking a new number one this summer following the expiration of David de Gea's contract on June 30.

De Gea, the Spanish goalkeeper, has become a free agent, and although discussions are ongoing regarding a potential new contract, it seems increasingly unlikely that the 32-year-old will agree to terms significantly lower than his previous weekly salary of £375,000.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly eager to acquire a goalkeeper who is comfortable with playing the ball at his feet, and Andre Onana, the Cameroonian international, is believed to be high on his list of targets for the summer.

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed over the weekend that Manchester United has expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old, who kept 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances for the Italian giants last season. A recent report states that Manchester United has submitted an official proposal to secure Onana's services and is prepared to proceed with negotiations for the former Ajax goalkeeper.

However, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, via GetFootballNewsItaly, Inter has rejected Manchester United's initial offer of €40 million (£34.3 million) plus €5 million (£4.3 million) in bonuses. It is reported that Inter values Onana closer to €60 million (£51.4 million) and would entertain offers starting at €50 million (£42.9 million) with an additional €10 million (£8.6 million) in add-ons.
