Real Madrid may have to go into their match against FC Barcelona without their star player, Edy Tavares. Tavares was absent from the recent ACB League game against BAXI Manresa due to a respiratory infection, as disclosed by head coach Chus Mateo.

As of now, there are significant doubts about Tavares' availability for the upcoming El Clasico clash against Barcelona at the WiZink Center on Sunday.

It's worth noting that Real Madrid previously faced Barcelona in the ACB Super Cup semifinal on September 16, where Tavares played a pivotal role in leading his team to a 90-80 victory. In that game, he contributed with 13 points (shooting 6/7 from two-point range and 1/2 from the free-throw line), 11 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 assist, and an impressive efficiency rating of 28.
