Chelsea is reportedly showing interest in Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, who is also an Italy international. The 24-year-old, who progressed through Torino's youth system, made his senior debut in 2018 and has become a key player for the club, featuring in 92 matches and contributing three goals and five assists.

Last season, Buongiorno impressed with one goal and two assists in 34 Serie A appearances, even captaining Torino on eight occasions. In the current season, he has continued to showcase his importance, scoring two goals and providing an assist in 14 games, despite being hampered by an adductor injury.

Standing at an imposing 6ft 3in, he made his senior Italy debut in June and is expected to be part of the squad for the upcoming Euro 2024.

Recognizing his value, Torino secured Buongiorno with an improved contract lasting until 2028 before the 2023-24 season. However, Chelsea has reportedly been keeping tabs on his progress, particularly admiring his ball-playing abilities and versatility in both central and left-back positions.

Chelsea isn't the only club interested, as Serie A giants Roma, Inter Milan, and Juventus are also reportedly in the running. Despite Buongiorno's recent contract extension, Torino has set an asking price of £35 million, rejecting a £21.5 million offer from an unnamed Italian side, confident that a Premier League club may offer more.

Chelsea, currently struggling in the 12th position in the Premier League, is reportedly looking to bolster its squad in the January window. However, Financial Fair Play regulations may limit their activity despite their desire to bring in at least three new players.
