Bayer Leverkusen achieved a remarkable feat by extending their unbeaten streak to a new record after securing a 1-1 draw against West Ham United, progressing 3-1 on aggregate to the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday.

Xabi Alonso's team had already celebrated their first-ever Bundesliga title victory the previous weekend with an impressive 5-0 win over Werder Bremen, marking their 25th victory in 29 league games this season.

Facing West Ham in the Europa League quarter-finals, Leverkusen found themselves unexpectedly behind in the first half at the London Stadium when Michail Antonio scored in the 13th minute off Jarrod Bowen's delivery. Despite initially struggling to handle West Ham's pressure and aerial threat, Leverkusen showed resilience and maturity in the second half.

They gradually regained control of the game and managed to equalize in the 89th minute through Jeremie Frimpong, salvaging the draw and maintaining their unbeaten streak alive.

Leverkusen's remarkable run now stands at an impressive 44 games without defeat across all competitions, comprising 38 wins and 6 draws. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Juventus in Europe's top-five leagues.

Their last defeat occurred 328 days ago in May of the previous year against VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga's final matchday of the season.
