Ahead of their last-16 clash with Porto later this month, Arsenal has made a noteworthy addition to their Champions League squad by including Jurrien Timber. The 22-year-old defender made a move to the Gunners from Ajax for a reported fee of £38m during the previous summer transfer window, committing to a long-term contract that runs until June 2028.

Despite his promising talent, Timber faced a setback when he suffered an ACL injury during his Premier League debut in August last year. Following surgery, he has been undergoing a lengthy period of rehabilitation to recover from the injury.

Last month, Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged that Timber still requires additional time to fully recuperate from his injury before he can resume training.

"Unfortunately, that's a very long-term injury," Arteta told reporters. "He is doing really well but he is still far from being fit to train with the team, or something to compete with the team so we don't expect him back anytime soon."
