Manchester United are pushing to strengthen their attack after a disappointing 2024/25 season. They've already brought in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and appear close to finalising a deal for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.

But the search for a natural number nine is still ongoing. Rasmus Højlund has struggled to make a consistent impact since arriving from Atalanta in 2023. He has scored just 14 goals in 62 Premier League appearances, including only four in 32 matches last season.

Newcastle, on the other hand, are working to fend off interest in Alexander Isak, who has been linked with Liverpool and several Saudi Pro League clubs. Even if they manage to keep him, the Magpies are still expected to bring in another striker to eventually replace Callum Wilson as their backup number nine.

That’s where Randal Kolo Muani could come in. Both United and Newcastle are reportedly interested, but convincing the Frenchman to take on a supporting role may be difficult. He will be looking for regular playing time as he aims to secure his spot in France’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
