Carvalho, who is 20 years old, joined Liverpool from Fulham last summer for a transfer fee of £5 million. However, he has struggled to secure playing time since joining the club, having started only four matches in the Premier League.
Although Carvalho has represented England at youth level, he has pledged his allegiance to Portugal, although he has yet to make his senior international debut for the Euro 2016 champions. Football Insider reports that West Ham is actively pursuing a loan move for Carvalho, hoping to bring him to the London Stadium for the upcoming season.
The report also mentions that Brentford and newly-promoted Burnley have inquired about the possibility of a temporary deal for the young midfielder, indicating that West Ham may face competition in their pursuit of Carvalho.
RB Leipzig is reportedly preparing a second bid for Carvalho, as their initial offer of £10 million was turned down by Liverpool. However, Liverpool is uncertain about whether they want to allow the player to leave on a permanent basis.
With the recent signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion, Carvalho could find himself even further down the pecking order at Liverpool if he spends another season on the fringes of the squad.
