Reports suggest that Real Madrid is feeling optimistic about retaining Toni Kroos for at least another season. The 34-year-old has been a crucial part of Los Blancos' squad throughout the 2023-24 season, featuring in 38 matches across all competitions. During this time, he scored once and provided seven assists.

While Kroos's current contract at the Bernabeu is set to expire in June, Real Madrid has been actively negotiating a potential extension with the experienced midfielder.

According to insights from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, there is a sense of confidence from the current La Liga leaders that Kroos will commit to a new deal, possibly extending his stay until the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.

"Within Real Madrid, there is optimism to keep Toni Kroos, at least for one more season," Romano said on his official YouTube channel. "Real Madrid are confident and they are only waiting for Kroos to make his final decision about his future. They believe there is a good chance to keep him for another season."

Kroos marked his comeback to international football on Saturday evening by completing the entire 90 minutes against France. In an impressive display, he swiftly provided an assist for Florian Wirtz's goal just seven seconds into the international friendly.

Having previously retired from the German national team after Euro 2020, Kroos has now reversed his decision and is ready to don the national colors once again. He's gearing up to represent his country at the upcoming European Championship this summer.

"Unbelievable, to be honest," Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann told reporters after the win over France when asked about the returning Kroos. "With the ball, we all know that he is an extraordinary player. But also how he got involved in duels."

Kroos made the switch from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid back in 2014, and since then, he has been a stalwart for his current club, featuring in 455 matches. Along the way, he's netted 28 goals and provided an impressive 96 assists.

His time at Real Madrid has been decorated with numerous accolades, including three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, four Spanish Super Cups, four Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups, and five Club World Cups.

Despite speculation about his future swirling around last year, Kroos opted to extend his stay at Real Madrid by signing a new one-year contract. Recently, Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti hinted that the decision about Kroos's future lies with the player himself, indicating that a new contract offer might be on the table.

Meanwhile, Luka Modric's contract with Real Madrid is also set to expire this summer. However, the Croatian midfielder is expected to seek opportunities elsewhere after losing his regular starting position during the 2023-24 season.
