Sporting Lisbon have reportedly spoken with Manchester United about re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer this summer. The Portugal international has been at the center of one of the most high-profile transfer sagas this summer, allegedly telling Manchester United in early July that he wants to leave this summer.

Ronaldo has played in his team's first two Premier League games of the 2022-23 season, but he appears to be determined to leave before the deadline, with the forward desperate to play in the Champions League this season.

Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are among the clubs that have reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign him this summer, while AC Milan and Inter Milan have also reportedly turned down a move for the Portuguese ace, and all-time leading goalscorer in men's football. However, there have been talks of a return to Sporting in recent weeks, and a move to the Portuguese giants is now a serious possibility, according to The Independent.
