Manchester United are reportedly considering Ruud van Nistelrooy as a potential interim head coach. Erik ten Hag, who was given a lifeline over the summer when INEOS, United's new minority owners were unable to secure any of their preferred candidates, remained in charge, signed a new contract, and was backed with new talent.

However, instead of sparking a resurgence, Ten Hag's United have struggled, managing just three wins in nine games this season, with victories coming against Fulham, Southampton, and Barnsley. They’ve only collected seven points from six Premier League matches, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

While reports suggest Ten Hag will be given a temporary reprieve, the pressure is mounting as United prepare for crucial games against Porto and Aston Villa.
