Reports indicate that Real Madrid has emerged as a potential destination for Arda Guler, a young Turkish midfielder, during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite being just 18 years old, Guler secured a regular starting position at Fenerbahce in the latter half of the previous season, displaying promising signs that justify the high expectations surrounding him since a young age.

While Fenerbahce fell short in the Super Lig title race, Guler played a crucial role in his club's strong finish, which resulted in silverware.

Across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, Guler contributed to 13 goals and notably excelled in the Turkish Cup final victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, where he provided the assist for Michy Batshuayi's opening goal and earned the man of the match accolade.

According to Marca, Real Madrid is reportedly becoming a serious contender to secure the services of the young midfielder, who possesses a release clause of only £16m in his contract.

This potential deal aligns with Real's recent transfer strategy of acquiring emerging talents, exemplified by the arrival of 19-year-old Jude Bellingham for £113m earlier this summer.

In recent years, Los Blancos have also recruited players like Vinicius Junior, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Endrick, signaling a departure from their previous pursuit of established "Galacticos."

While Guler may not have the same level of recognition as Bellingham, he is already a full international with four appearances for the Turkish senior team.

Born in 2005, Guler scored his first international goal in a recent Euro 2024 qualifier against Wales, contributing to Turkey's 2-0 victory in Samsun.

Interestingly, this speculation emerges 12 years after Guler's namesake, the Turkish icon Arda Turan, made a move to the Spanish capital, joining Real's rival club, Atletico Madrid, for a fee of €12m (£10.25m).

Comparisons have been drawn between Guler and Turan, as well as Lionel Messi, the former Barcelona star who represented Real Madrid's archrivals. Guler's technical playing style and diminutive stature have contributed to these comparisons.

However, Real Madrid faces competition for the Turkish international's signature, with La Liga clubs Barcelona and Sevilla, as well as Liverpool, Benfica, and AC Milan, previously linked with an interest in his services.
