Premier League chief executive Richard Masters emphasized the importance of resolving the case surrounding Manchester City's 115 charges, stating it's "self-evident" that the issue needs to be settled for the sake of the league.

An independent disciplinary commission is set to hear the case against Manchester City, who have denied all allegations of breaching the Premier League's financial rules, some of which date back to 2009.

In an interview with BBC sports editor Dan Roan, Masters expressed his belief that "it is time now for the case to resolve itself." When asked whether the ongoing case casts a shadow over the league, he acknowledged, "It's been going on for a number of years, and I think it's clear that the case needs to be heard and answered."

While Masters couldn't confirm the exact date of City's hearing City were charged in February 2023. It is understood that the hearing is likely to begin next month, with a decision possibly coming early next year, as initially reported by The Times.

Masters added, "Once the case has been heard, a decision will be published, and all the questions you want answered will be addressed as part of that process."

In a separate legal matter, Manchester City is also challenging the Premier League over its stricter rules on 'fair' sponsorship deals. However, Masters declined to comment on that case, noting that the proceedings are "entirely confidential." BBC Sport reports that a decision in that case is expected in the coming weeks.
