Tottenham suffered their first pre-season defeat, losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich in front of a sell-out crowd of 67,000 in Seoul.

Son Heung-min, James Maddison, and new signings Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall all featured for Spurs. However, despite their efforts, they couldn't match the strength of the Bundesliga champions, who were missing star player Harry Kane.

Bayern's Gabriel Vidovic capitalized on a poor pass from Spurs' goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to open the scoring. Leon Goretzka doubled Bayern's lead after halftime. Although Pedro Porro's impressive 25-yard strike reduced the deficit, Spurs couldn't find an equalizer. Bayern also introduced former Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha in the second half.

Tottenham will have another chance against Bayern on Saturday, August 10, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In other news, Newcastle concluded their Japan tour with a 2-0 loss to Yokohama F Marinos. Goals from Brazilian winger Elber and midfielder Jun Amano secured the win for the J League club in Tokyo, where Lloyd Kelly made his debut for Newcastle.
