OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is set to have a medical with West Ham United on Friday, as the club looks to secure his signing ahead of Juventus.
West Ham has reached an agreement for an initial season-long loan for Todibo, with an option to buy for €40 million (£34.22 million) in 2025.
Juventus had been leading the race to sign the 24-year-old, but they struggled to finalize terms with Nice. If West Ham completes the deal, it would be a significant win for the Hammers, especially since Juventus can offer Champions League football.
Earlier this summer, Manchester United was interested in Todibo, but UEFA blocked the move due to a conflict with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's involvement with Nice, which violated their rules on associated party transactions.
Todibo started his career at Toulouse before moving to Barcelona in 2019. After loan spells with Schalke and Benfica, he joined Nice permanently in 2021.
West Ham has been very active this summer, with technical director Tim Steidten focused on reshaping the squad after David Moyes' departure. The club has spent over £100 million since appointing Julen Lopetegui as the new manager, signing players like Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, German striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund, midfielder Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras, defender Max Kilman from Wolves, and Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
