Following a hard-fought penalty shootout victory over Brighton, Manchester United has secured a place in the all-Manchester FA Cup final on June 3rd. As the manager of United, Ten Hag is determined to clinch the FA Cup, which would complement their Carabao Cup triumph in his debut season. Moreover, if they triumph over City, it would prevent City from matching United's 1999 feat of winning the Premier League title, FA Cup, and Champions League all in the same season.
“We will give everything and when I say everything, that is everything,” the United manager said. “So the fans can rely on that – that we will give it and do it against every opponent.
“But, of course, we want to give that against City. We want to give the fans that, for sure.”
After winning against Sheffield United, City has made it to the Cup final. By defeating league leaders Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, they could move closer to winning their fifth league title in six seasons. Additionally, they are set to take on Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Ten Hag, whose team had defeated City 2-1 in January's league match, acknowledged that they would need to execute "the flawless performance" to win against Pep Guardiola's side once again.
“We are proof, proof that we could beat them but then we have to play the perfect game,” he said. “I think that [in January] was the perfect game we played this season but we have to go again."
