Despite featuring in 38 matches in all competitions, Fati has only managed to score six goals and provide three assists. Although he still has four years remaining on his contract, with the option for an additional two years, his father has been vocal in urging him to leave the club in the summer.
"Ansu does not want to leave Barcelona, but I want to see him succeed. I won't go to the stadium anymore, I'm very angry with the club. In a month we will meet with Jorge Mendes (agent), for sure," Bori Fati told COPE before going on to reveal that he had 'urged his son to leave'.
Nonetheless, with Fati's current struggles, it remains to be seen whether a move away from Barcelona would materialize.
SPORT has reported that a number of clubs, such as Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Arsenal, are monitoring Ansu Fati's situation at Camp Nou. However, if Barcelona decides to put the Spanish player on the market, Manchester United would be the top contender to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window. Fati was once considered one of the best young talents in the world and has already made 96 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 25 goals and assisting nine times.
However, due to injury problems, he missed 47 club matches between November 2020 and September 2021 and has since been sidelined with two separate hamstring issues, which have stunted his development.
Given their financial difficulties, Barcelona could be forced to sell Fati this summer, particularly if they want to re-sign Lionel Messi. Manchester United, who are long-term admirers of the forward, are likely to spend heavily on a new striker this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane as their primary target. Furthermore, with Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley and Anthony Martial's constant fitness issues, another attacker could also be acquired.
