Misehouy has been a part of the Ajax setup for 11 years, having joined their youth ranks in 2012. At the Under-18 level, he managed to score six goals and provide three assists in 15 games before progressing through the ranks. Last year, he particularly stood out in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored three goals and created another in four continental matches, including one against Liverpool's Under-19s.
In the current season, Misehouy has continued to impress with five goals and two assists in the Eerste Divisie for the Under-21s, although Ajax struggled to win games in which he featured. His performances earned him a call-up to the senior squad for a September Eredivisie meeting with FC Twente, although he remained an unused substitute as Ajax lost 3-1.
Misehouy also made his debut for the Netherlands' Under-19 team last month, registering an assist in a 2-0 friendly win over Italy. Unfortunately, he has been sidelined with an injury in recent weeks.
Ajax, currently at the bottom of the Eredivisie table due to a challenging start to the season, face the risk of losing Misehouy next year, as his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. According to reports, Manchester City has expressed interest in Misehouy. If he doesn't sign a new contract, he can engage in pre-contract negotiations with foreign clubs starting in January.
Manchester City already has a connection with Ajax, as their former youth scout and loan player manager, Kelvin de Lang, joined Ajax as their chief scout this summer. De Lang is also serving as Ajax's technical director during Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's absence. However, negotiations between Huntelaar and Misehouy didn't result in a new deal, and now the pressure is on De Lang to secure a renewal. With Manchester City's increased interest, Ajax faces a challenge convincing Misehouy to extend his contract.
In the summer, Manchester City bid farewell to long-serving winger Riyad Mahrez and allowed Cole Palmer to join Chelsea, boosting the club's finances by around £72.5 million. They managed to offset Mahrez's departure by signing Jeremy Doku from Rennes in a £55 million deal and extending Bernardo Silva's contract until 2026, despite his previous desire to leave the club.
