Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to a knee injury he sustained during Saturday's 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur. The Dutch international, who scored Liverpool's equalizing goal, immediately went down in pain and was substituted by Diogo Jota for the second half.

Gakpo suffered the injury after a tackle from behind by Destiny Udogie just before scoring past Guglielmo Vicario. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Gakpo's condition after the match, revealing that the player left the stadium with his leg in a brace. When asked about the severity of the injury, Klopp responded with "Possibly."

According to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, Gakpo is expected to undergo several weeks of recovery due to the injury. However, there is a possibility that he could make a return in a "few weeks" if his rehabilitation progresses better than anticipated.
As a result of his injury, Cody Gakpo may be absent during a busy period of fixtures for Liverpool. The team is set to resume their Europa League campaign with a match against Belgian side Union SG on Thursday, just three days before facing Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Liverpool's schedule also includes a highly anticipated Merseyside derby against Everton on October 21. Unfortunately, fixtures against Nottingham Forest on October 29, Luton Town on November 5, and Brentford on November 12 in the Premier League may come too soon for Gakpo's return.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old is expected to be unavailable for Liverpool's Europa League match against Toulouse on October 26 and their EFL Cup fourth-round tie with Bournemouth on November 1.

However, there is a possibility that Gakpo could make a comeback and be back in contention for a crucial clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on November 25.

This presents an opportunity for him to build on his start with Liverpool, which has seen him score just his third goal of the season in all competitions. Since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven in January, he has accumulated 10 goals and provided three assists in 34 matches.
