Liverpool are reportedly preparing a low opening bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, hoping to land him for less than half of Palace’s current valuation. The England international is said to be Liverpool’s top target to replace Jarell Quansah, who’s close to finalizing a £34 million move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Although Guehi isn’t in a rush to leave Selhurst Park, he’s entering the final year of his contract, and with no extension on the horizon, Palace may be forced to consider offers this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2026. Liverpool seem ready to act on that uncertainty.

According to the Daily Mail, Palace have set a £70 million asking price, but that figure is expected to drop due to his contract situation. Liverpool’s new sporting director, Richard Hughes, is reportedly preparing an opening offer worth around £30 million. While Palace are expected to reject that initial bid, sources suggest they may eventually settle for something closer to £40 million and are already bracing for Guehi’s exit.

Guehi is thought to have agreed on personal terms with Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s side, and the Merseyside club has now made direct contact with Palace to gauge what it will take to get a deal done.

Palace, meanwhile, are believed to be lining up Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diomande as a potential replacement. Guehi, who cost Palace £20 million when they signed him from Chelsea in 2021, has proven to be a smart investment. He’s made 155 appearances for the club, scored eight goals, provided four assists, and captained the team to their FA Cup win in the 2024–25 season.

On the international stage, Guehi has earned 23 England caps and was a regular starter at Euro 2024. He’s widely expected to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
