Kevin De Bruyne matched Wayne Rooney's Premier League assist record by orchestrating Manchester City's last-minute triumph in a 3-2 win against Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday.

Coming off the bench with about 20 minutes left in regular time, the playmaker left an immediate impact, not only scoring City's equalizer but also setting up Oscar Bobb for the decisive goal.

At halftime, Man City trailed 2-1, as quick goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon overturned the game after an inventive backheel goal by Bernardo Silva just before the half-hour mark.

However, the champions dominated the second half, with De Bruyne showcasing his skill by scoring a well-placed shot in the 74th minute. He then delivered a precision pass to Bobb, who displayed impressive footwork and composure to secure the dramatic 91st-minute victory.

De Bruyne's assist for Bobb marked his 103rd in the Premier League, tying him with former Manchester United striker Rooney for the third spot on the all-time assist list in the division.

Kevin De Bruyne has now surpassed Frank Lampard's tally of 102 assists, securing the fifth spot in the Premier League's all-time assist list. With 103 assists to his name, he is currently eight behind Cesc Fabregas, who holds the second position with 111 assists.

However, Ryan Giggs maintains a substantial lead at the top, boasting an impressive 162 assists for Manchester United.
