Darwin Núñez is in talks with Juventus as the Italian club explores backup options in case their move for Randal Kolo Muani doesn't work out. Kolo Muani remains Juventus' top priority this summer, but negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain have been slow and difficult.

With no breakthrough yet in those talks, Juventus has begun speaking with Núñez’s representatives to prepare for the possibility that the Kolo Muani deal won't happen. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, discussions with Núñez’s camp are already underway.

Núñez joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 with high expectations, but he hasn’t fully lived up to them. While he’s shown glimpses of his talent, his overall impact has been inconsistent. Last season, he scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 47 appearances. Liverpool is open to letting him go on loan, as long as a purchase option is included, which makes him an appealing alternative for Juventus. The club may need a replacement if Dusan Vlahovic leaves this summer.

Juventus has already received details about Núñez’s salary and what a deal might look like. Although Saudi club Al Hilal has also expressed interest in the Uruguayan striker, Juventus remains in close contact with his camp. Kolo Muani is still their preferred choice, but Núñez is seen as a strong plan B.

Liverpool is reportedly asking for around €60 to €65 million for a permanent transfer, but they are willing to consider a loan with an option to buy.

For now, Juventus is still focused on Kolo Muani and hopes to reach an agreement with PSG. But if that deal falls through, they’re ready to step up their pursuit of Núñez. With Vlahovic’s future uncertain, Juventus wants to finalize their striker plans soon, before the season kicks off.
