The Sixers have been trending in a certain direction for the past week and have now officially declared that Joel Embiid will not be playing in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals versus the Boston Celtics.

However, the team is still hopeful that he will be able to return for Game 2 on Wednesday, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Before the game on Monday night, head coach Doc Rivers downplayed the report, stating that although Embiid has participated in shootaround, he has yet to start running.

Wojnarowski mentioned in his report that Embiid was able to move around better during a workout after shootaround. Additionally, earlier that day, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Embiid had received a PRP injection last week to improve blood flow to the LCL in hopes of accelerating the healing process.

Despite not taking their opponents lightly in the previous round, the Sixers find themselves in the same position they were in last year.
