After moving to Ligue 1 side Reims from Arsenal on a temporary basis in August 2022, the 21-year-old striker scored an impressive 21 goals in 37 league appearances for his loan club. This placed him behind only Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette, and Jonathan David in the race for the Golden Boot in that division.
Balogun, who also represents the United States internationally, recently made his debut for the national team in a spirited match against Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League. He played for 75 minutes in a game that saw four red cards handed out. According to the Daily Mail, Inter Milan is eager to secure Balogun's services for the Serie A next season, especially with uncertainty surrounding the future of Edin Dzeko, who has attracted interest from Fenerbahce.
It is reported that Inter's sporting director, Piero Ausilio, held initial discussions with Balogun and his representatives in London on Thursday, with further talks expected to take place on Friday.
The report states that Arsenal would prefer a permanent transfer for the striker and are seeking a fee of £40 million. However, Inter Milan is said to be more inclined towards a loan deal.
Balogun is reportedly eager to continue playing regular first-team football in the upcoming season, following his successful loan spell at Reims. However, it seems that Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, currently places Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah ahead of the young American in his pecking order of strikers.
