Erik ten Hag recently disclosed that Man United has made significant progress in their discussions to sign a new striker during the summer transfer window. The Dutchman is hopeful that a deal can be finalized as soon as possible. Among the various names linked to a potential move to Old Trafford, Denmark international Hojlund seems to be United's primary target for the striker position.
Despite their attempts, Manchester United has faced obstacles in acquiring players such as Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt, and Victor Osimhen from Napoli. A pursuit of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain is deemed financially unfeasible. Consequently, the club is now focusing on the possibility of signing 20-year-old Hojlund during the summer transfer window and has held talks with Atalanta to discuss his availability.
However, negotiations regarding the transfer fee have hit a stumbling block, as Manchester United is hesitant to pay more than £60m for Hojlund, while Atalanta values him at around £85m.
Despite the fee disagreement, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that an agreement has been reached between Manchester United and Hojlund's representatives concerning personal terms. It's stated that the Danish striker has given the green light to a five-year contract, extending until the summer of 2028, with an option for an additional 12-month extension.
Manchester United is now preparing to present a formal offer this week, but they are unwilling to engage in negotiations within the €90m to €100m range.
