With the NBA's new season just around the corner, the Milwaukee Bucks have secured their star player's future. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Giannis Antetokounmpo has agreed to a lucrative three-year, $186 million max deal with the team.

Wojnarowski also reported that this deal includes a player option for the 2027-28 season. The agreement was finalized after a meeting between the club's representatives and Giannis' agent, Alex Saratsis, which took place on Sunday. The deadline for signing an extension was set for 11:59 PM EST on Monday.

The inclusion of a player option in the deal is significant, as it provides Giannis with the flexibility to potentially earn more over the course of his career. Wojnarowski notes that the Over-38 rule in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed by the league and its players earlier this year allows the superstar forward to sign another short-term deal with the Bucks in 2026 and a potential four-year extension in 2028.

Before this extension, Giannis Antetokounmpo still had two years remaining on his existing contract and was due to earn $45,640,084 in the upcoming season.

In the previous season, Giannis showcased his impressive skills by averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. During this offseason, the Bucks also made a significant move by acquiring Damian Lillard in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, solidifying their status as one of the top contenders for the NBA championship.
