With injuries to defender Leny Yoro, who will be out for three months, and striker Rasmus Hojlund adding to the club’s challenges, United are in need of funds to bring in new players. McTominay, who is 27 and entering the prime of his career, wants a regular spot in the first team.
Last season, McTominay made 32 Premier League appearances for United, though 14 were from the bench. He did start in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, however.
In Wednesday’s pre-season match against Real Betis in San Diego, McTominay played in the number 10 role. With Bruno Fernandes still to join the main training group after Euro 2024, Mason Mount aiming to stay fit, and Casemiro still at the club despite speculation about a move to the Saudi Pro-League, McTominay's situation could change, and a deal might eventually be struck.
