Reports suggest that Chelsea has communicated to Trevoh Chalobah that he is free to explore opportunities with another club in the January transfer window.

Chalobah, an adaptable English player, had spent multiple loan spells away from Stamford Bridge but managed to secure a place in the senior squad under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel.

Over the course of two seasons, Chalobah accumulated 63 appearances in various competitions, contributing with four goals and one assist, often playing as a center-back or right wing-back. However, the influx of new talent signed from external sources has hindered the 24-year-old's chances of maintaining his spot in the team under Mauricio Pochettino.

While Chalobah featured prominently during the pre-season, the arrival of Axel Disasi and an injury sustained towards the end of the club's preparations for the new season led to him slipping down the pecking order. It became evident in the final week of the summer transfer window that Chelsea's co-owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, were open to selling Chalobah in order to bolster the club's financial position in compliance with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Bayern Munich appeared to be the frontrunners to secure a deal, but they ran out of time on transfer deadline day. Additionally, Chalobah reportedly turned down an offer from Nottingham Forest.

Head coach Pochettino has maintained that Chalobah has a role to play in his squad and remains available for selection. However, according to reports from TEAMtalk, Chalobah has already been informed that he can seek a new club in the upcoming year. Whether Chalobah will make a return to the squad after recovering from injury remains uncertain, as Chelsea currently faces a shortage of defensive options.

This development could potentially lead Pochettino to favor alternative choices when Chelsea isn't playing twice a week due to European competitions. Chalobah is said to have been eager to stay at Chelsea, a club he has been associated with since 2007 and represented in various youth levels, making 74 appearances.

Nonetheless, Chelsea appears prepared to reopen negotiations with Bayern Munich, managed by Chalobah's former boss, Tuchel, and explore other potential suitors for the player.
