Barcelona have reportedly set a steep asking price of £112 million for promising midfielders Fermin Lopez and Marc Casado Torras, casting doubt over Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in signing both players this summer.

Twenty-two-year-old Lopez is also drawing attention from Chelsea, fresh off their Club World Cup triumph in the United States. Chelsea defeated PSG in the final at the MetLife Stadium with goals from Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, ending PSG’s hopes of global glory.

Despite the setback, Luis Enrique’s side enjoyed a stellar 2024 to 2025 season, winning both Ligue 1 and their first-ever Champions League title. Now, they are focused on strengthening the squad for a title defense, with midfield seen as a key area for reinforcements.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, PSG have identified both Lopez and Casado as potential targets. However, Barcelona are unwilling to let the pair go cheaply. The Catalan club is believed to value the two players at a combined minimum of £112 million, a fee that reflects their rising status within the squad and the plans of new head coach Hansi Flick.

Lopez, who impressed in La Liga last season, is also being monitored by Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Chelsea. Casado, aged twenty-one, recently attracted a £25 million offer from Bayer Leverkusen, which Barcelona immediately rejected.

PSG, fresh from their historic Champions League win, are not just looking for short-term success. The club’s leadership is aiming to build a long-lasting football dynasty in Paris. While Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz have formed a strong midfield trio, PSG are eager to add young talent with long-term potential. Lopez and Casado could fit that vision perfectly, but they may come at a premium.
