Alejandro Garnacho could soon leave Manchester United, with Aston Villa emerging as the clear front-runners to sign the young Argentina international this summer.

The 21-year-old forward has been training away from Manchester United’s first team after manager Ruben Amorim made it clear that Garnacho is not part of his plans for the 2025-26 season.

Garnacho had a strong season last year, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 58 appearances. However, things between him and Amorim deteriorated after the Europa League final in May.

The tension became public when Garnacho was left on the bench against Tottenham Hotspur, prompting criticism of Amorim from both the player and his brother, who also serves as his agent.

Amorim then excluded Garnacho from the final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa. With several clubs reportedly interested, Garnacho looks set to move on during this transfer window.

While Napoli remains linked with Garnacho after a previous January bid, and Atletico Madrid are keeping an eye on their former player, Garnacho reportedly wants to stay in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa is now the favorite to land him, with Chelsea and Tottenham also expressing interest. Manchester United are only willing to sell permanently and may have to lower their £70 million asking price as they appear keen to move him on.

Garnacho stirred controversy last month when he posted a photo of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s number 9 on Instagram during a summer trip to Ibiza. This didn’t sit well with United’s management.

If the transfer goes through, it would be a profitable deal for Manchester United under Premier League financial regulations. Garnacho has made 144 appearances for United across all competitions, scoring 26 goals and assisting 22 times, but it now seems unlikely he will wear the Red Devils shirt again.
