Arsenal's sporting director, Andrea Berta, is reportedly considering selling Gabriel Jesus this summer as the club prepares to sign Viktor Gyökeres.

Arsenal is close to finalizing a deal with Sporting Lisbon to bring in the Swedish striker for up to €73.5 million (£64.2 million). Gyökeres was seen boarding a private jet to London on Friday and is expected to have his medical soon. After that, he will join the team in Asia for their pre-season tour.

Gyökeres will strengthen Arsenal’s attack, which struggled last season due to injuries to Jesus and Kai Havertz. Havertz is now fit again, but Jesus is still recovering from a serious knee injury he suffered in January. He is aiming to return around late 2025 or summer 2026.

However, Jesus might not return to play for Arsenal. According to HandofArsenal, Berta is considering selling him during this transfer window. Clubs in Europe and Brazil, where Jesus is from, have shown interest. He has two years left on his Arsenal contract.

His old club Palmeiras looked into re-signing him earlier this year, but Arsenal were not open to a move at that time. That might change now with Gyökeres arriving and competing with Havertz for a spot in the starting lineup.

Since joining from Manchester City in 2022, Jesus has played 96 times for Arsenal, scoring 26 goals and assisting 20, though injuries have limited his game time.
