Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly facing serious backlash from within the squad after the surprise sacking of head coach Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou, who had become a fan and player favorite, was officially let go on Friday just weeks after leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years with a Europa League final victory. That European success also secured Champions League football for next season.

However, Spurs' domestic campaign was disastrous. They finished 17th in the Premier League and set an unwanted record: the most games lost in a single season (22) without being relegated.

Levy hasn’t spoken publicly about why the club chose to part ways with Postecoglou, but a club statement emphasized that decisions couldn’t be made based solely on the high emotions following their European win. Since the announcement, several players have voiced support for their former manager, and The Telegraph reports that many are furious over the decision.

According to the same report, the anger runs so deep that some players are considering leaving the club this summer, sparking talk of a possible revolt in the dressing room.

It’s not just the firing that has players upset many are also frustrated with how the club’s leadership handled the situation. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s search for a new head coach is already underway.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank is currently seen as the front-runner, with Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola also in contention. There’s even speculation that former manager Mauricio Pochettino could make a dramatic return, though it seems unlikely given his current role with the U.S. national team.
