Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray is facing another injury setback just before what might be his final appearance at his cherished SW19 this summer. The 37-year-old fought back from a severe ankle injury in time for the French Open, after tearing ligaments during the Miami Open in March and spending nearly two months recovering.

Murray had short-lived runs at a Bordeaux Challenger event and in Geneva before a highly anticipated first-round match against Stan Wawrinka at Roland-Garros, where he lost to the Swiss veteran in straight sets.

The three-time major winner, who is expected to retire at the end of the season, spoke to the Paris crowd as if bidding farewell to the French Open. His singles campaign was followed by an opening doubles match loss alongside Dan Evans to Thiago Seyboth Wild and Sebastian Baez.

With no victories at the French Open, Murray's focus now shifts entirely to the grass-court season. Last year, he won two Challenger events leading up to Wimbledon, defeating Jurij Rodionov to claim the Surbiton Trophy and overcoming Arthur Cazaux in the final of the Nottingham Open. However, Murray has announced that he will not be able to defend his title at Surbiton this year.
