Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga is reportedly preparing to undergo a medical examination before his potential transfer to Sevilla. Lokonga joined Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021 but has struggled to secure a regular spot in Mikel Arteta's lineup.

In his first season with Arsenal, Lokonga played in only 24 matches. During the first half of the 2022-23 season, he made 15 appearances. He then went on loan to Crystal Palace for the remainder of that season, where he played just nine Premier League games.

Last season, Lokonga was loaned to Luton Town, where he managed to score one goal and provide three assists in 17 matches. Despite these efforts, he is still not a key part of Arsenal's plans and is now set for another loan move.

According to The Athletic, Lokonga will have a medical on Friday before a proposed move to Sevilla. The Spanish club has agreed to a season-long loan deal with an option to buy him permanently for around €12 million (£10 million). If Sevilla decides to buy Lokonga, Arsenal will receive 25% of any future transfer fee for him.

The report indicates that Lokonga chose Sevilla over a better financial offer from Italian club Fiorentina. This loan move gives him a chance to find stability and regular playing time in Sevilla, who are currently short on central midfielders.

New Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta currently has Djibril Sow and Joan Jordan as his main midfield options, with Thomas Delaney likely to leave before the 2024-25 season. However, Lokonga might face more competition as Sevilla plans to strengthen their midfield further this summer.

Good move for him, he was never going to fit into Arteta's plans at Arsenal
