Initially close to a move to Lazio, Kerkez's path changed when Bournemouth seized the opportunity to provide him with the chance to showcase his skills in the upcoming Premier League season. With this signing, the left-back becomes Bournemouth's third addition of the summer, following the earlier arrivals of Justin Kluivert and Romain Faivre.
"We are delighted to announce the signing of Milos, a talented young player with a great deal of potential," chief executive Neill Blake told the club website.
"He was being tracked by a number of clubs in Europe but was very keen to join us after hearing about our plans and ambitions for the future.
"An athletic and attacking full-back, Milos will be an excellent addition to our exciting squad and we are looking forward to working with him."
Kerkez made his move to AZ in January 2022, where he had an impressive season, contributing five goals and seven assists in 52 matches across all competitions. His stellar performances helped AZ reach the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.
Having displayed remarkable potential, the young defender earned his first international cap for Hungary the previous year and has since represented his country in eight matches.
Bournemouth's left-back options were depleted due to the departures of Jordan Zemura and Matias Vina earlier in the summer. As a result, Kerkez's arrival comes as a valuable addition to the squad. With the new Premier League season commencing on August 12, Bournemouth's first fixture at home against West Ham United presents a potential opportunity for Kerkez to make his competitive debut for the club.
