Three Manchester City players - Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Sergio Gomez - won't be part of Pep Guardiola's 21-man squad traveling to Denmark for the Champions League last-16 first-leg match against Copenhagen.

Kovacic and Gomez were already unavailable for City's recent Premier League victory against Everton, while Gvardiol remained on the bench as an unused substitute. None of them participated in the open training session before the trip to Copenhagen and have subsequently been left out of the traveling squad.

While Kovacic and Gvardiol are believed to have minor injuries, the reason for Gomez's absence remains undisclosed. Kovacic and Gvardiol, both summer signings, have been regular features in their debut seasons with City, each making 27 appearances across all competitions.

Gomez, on the other hand, has struggled for playing time under Guardiola, with only 10 appearances this season, though he has started twice in the Champions League.

Guardiola didn't provide updates on the fitness of his squad in his press conference before the trip, instead focusing on the challenges expected against Copenhagen. With the absence of Kovacic, Gvardiol, and Gomez, City has called up two academy prospects, Mahamadou Susoho and Jacob Wright, with Wright having been on the bench against Everton in the previous game.
