Tottenham Hotspur has achieved a remarkable clean sweep of the Premier League's first monthly awards for the 2023-24 season. James Maddison and Ange Postecoglou have both been honored with the August accolades.

James Maddison, the newly-acquired playmaker, has been instrumental in Spurs' impressive start to the season since his transfer from Leicester City. His contributions throughout the month of August include one goal and two assists.

In his competitive debut for the Lilywhites against Brentford, Maddison provided two crucial assists, setting up Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal. He continued to shine by helping secure a statement victory over Manchester United. On August 26, Maddison opened his scoring account for Tottenham in a match against Bournemouth and began September with a beautifully executed goal in a 5-2 thrashing of Burnley.

Maddison's exceptional performances have earned him his maiden Player of the Month award, outshining competitors such as Bryan Mbeumo, Kaoru Mitoma, Rodri, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Jarrod Bowen. Notably, he is the first Spurs player to win this award since March 2022 when Harry Kane secured his seventh individual honor.

Maddison's triumph underscores the dominance of English players in recent months, with four of the last five Player of the Month awards going to English talents, including Marcus Rashford in January and February and Bukayo Saka in 2023.

Previously shortlisted four times without success, Maddison's recognition was followed by Ange Postecoglou's appointment as the Premier League's Manager of the Month.

Ange Postecoglou, the former Celtic treble-winner, has already made history by becoming the first Australian coach to helm a Premier League team. His mission to reintroduce exciting, attacking football to North London has proven successful. Under his leadership, Tottenham secured 10 points from their opening four Premier League fixtures, placing them second behind Manchester City as they enter the international break. Despite strong competition from Arsenal, Liverpool, and West Ham United, Tottenham's superior goal difference secured their position as runners-up, amassing a total of 11 goals, second only to Brighton & Hove Albion's 12.

Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Pep Guardiola (Man City), and David Moyes (West Ham) were also nominated for the Manager of the Month award, which had not been won by a Tottenham manager since Nuno Espirito Santo in August 2021.

Furthermore, Postecoglou is only the second head coach to claim this honor in his inaugural month in charge of a Premier League team, following David Wagner, who achieved this feat with Huddersfield Town in August 2017.

Postecoglou's recent accolade adds to an exceptional week for the 58-year-old, who is among the top five nominees for The Best FIFA Men's Coach, alongside Guardiola, Xavi, Luciano Spalletti, and Simone Inzaghi.

Tottenham is set to return to action after the international break with a home fixture against Sheffield United on Saturday.
