Real Madrid loanee Joselu has decided on the next step in his career. With his parent club Espanyol relegated, the veteran forward had a chance to rejoin Real Madrid, 11 years after he left.

When the transfer was initially made, it sparked debate, but it turned out to be one of Real's best moves in recent times. Joselu netted 18 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, including a memorable brace during the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich.

Thanks to those two crucial goals, Joselu secured his place in Real Madrid's history, and many expected the club to use their option to buy him for a low price and keep the 34-year-old. However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Joselu has chosen to join Qatari side Al Gharafa.

Joselu appears to have received a lucrative offer from Al Gharafa, with the deal nearing completion. Romano also mentioned that Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti was keen to retain Joselu's experience, but the forward opted to join the team that finished third in the Qatar Stars League for the 2023-24 season.

Real Madrid could have signed Joselu for €1.5 million, and any fee paid by Al Gharafa is expected to be around that amount.
