Cole Palmer has been named the England Men's Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. The Chelsea forward, who was chosen by public vote, beat out Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, who came in second and third.

Palmer made his England debut in November last year during a 2-0 victory against Malta at Wembley. Since then, he has earned nine caps, starting in two games. Five of his appearances came during Euro 2024, where he scored in the final against Spain, though England lost 2-1 under Gareth Southgate.

This award follows his recognition as the PFA Young Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season in August, after an impressive debut season at Chelsea. Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, scored 25 goals across all competitions. For England, he has netted two goals and is expected to feature in the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece on Thursday and Finland on Sunday.

The 2023-24 England Women’s Player of the Year will be announced later this month.

Palmer is the first Chelsea player to win this award since Ashley Cole in 2010, joining a list that includes past winners like Frank Lampard. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka won the award in the last two seasons, while other notable winners include Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, and David Beckham.
