Juventus has officially welcomed Portuguese defender Tiago Djalo into their squad, securing his signature from Lille on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The 23-year-old is making the switch from Ligue 1 to Serie A, concluding a noteworthy four-and-a-half-year stint at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, where he clinched the French top-flight title in the 2020-21 season.

Djalo, originally from the Sporting Lisbon academy, briefly joined AC Milan's youth academy in 2019 before embarking on his journey to France. During his time at Lille, he contributed three goals and two assists in 102 matches across various tournaments.

Unfortunately, his last year with Lille was marred by a cruciate ligament tear in March, sidelining him from play. Nevertheless, Juventus has seized the opportunity to bring him on board as he progresses through the final stages of recovery under Paulo Fonseca's guidance.

Confirming the transfer details, Juventus disclosed that they have initially paid €3.6m (£3.1m) for Djalo's acquisition, with the potential for an additional €2.6m (£2.2m) based on performance-related add-ons. Djalo's contract also reportedly includes a two-year extension option, extending until the summer of 2028. This signing marks Juventus' first move in the January transfer window.

As Juventus currently leads Serie A, sitting one point ahead of Inter Milan (with an extra game played), they are gearing up for their upcoming match against Empoli at home on Saturday.
