Arsenal is apparently gearing up for a raid on Sporting Lisbon in the upcoming January transfer window, targeting Ousmane Diomande and Viktor Gyokeres. Despite their earlier exit from the EFL Cup, Mikel Arteta's squad is performing well on multiple fronts, topping their Champions League group and sitting second in the Premier League, just one point behind leaders Liverpool.

Reports from O Jogo via The Express suggest that Arsenal is eyeing a double move for Sporting Lisbon players. The Gunners are particularly interested in securing the services of 20-year-old defender Diomande, who has been a regular in the Primeira Liga this season. Diomande, a three-time Ivory Coast international, reportedly has a £69 million release clause in his contract, opening the door for negotiations.

With center-back Jurrien Timber facing a potentially season-ending injury early in the campaign, Arteta is reportedly seeking defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Another player on Arsenal's radar is Swedish striker Gyokeres, who made a £20 million move from Coventry City to Sporting Lisbon in the summer. The former Swansea City loanee impressed in the Championship, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances for Coventry City last season, helping them reach the playoff final, where they lost to Luton Town on penalties.

Gyokeres has hit the ground running in the Primeira Liga, netting nine goals and providing four assists in his first 12 matches. His impressive form has reportedly attracted interest from both Arsenal and London rivals Chelsea. The Gunners might find themselves in a January battle with Chelsea for the towering forward's signature.

In addition to Arsenal, Diomande is also reportedly on the shortlist for potential incomings at Stamford Bridge in the New Year, as Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea looks to improve on their current 12th-place standing. The competition for these Sporting Lisbon talents appears to be heating up as the January transfer window approaches.
