When Kulusevski arrived in England for the second half of the 2021-22 season, he scored five goals and provided eight assists in 18 Premier League matches, helping Spurs qualify for the Champions League. However, he had a less successful 2022-23 season due to injuries, but still managed to assist in seven goals in 30 matches and scored two goals.
Tottenham was supposed to sign Kulusevski permanently if they had finished in the top four, but since they ended the season in eighth place, they only had the option to buy him. Despite not qualifying for Europe, Tottenham was expected to keep Kulusevski, and journalist Fabrizio Romano now reports that a deal has been reached with Juventus.
The option-to-buy clause in Kulusevski's contract was initially set at €35m (£29.9m), but Tottenham managed to negotiate a lower fee because Kulusevski has only one year left on his Juventus contract. Romano states that Spurs will pay €30m (£25.7m) for Kulusevski's services, and the young player has agreed to a four-year contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2027.
The return of Kulusevski to Tottenham is expected to be announced in the next few days as manager Ange Postecoglou welcomes his first permanent signing since taking charge.
During his loan period, Kulusevski scored seven goals and provided 16 assists in 57 games for Tottenham. He will be leaving Juventus after a disappointing three and a half years. Kulusevski was loaned to Parma while Juventus agreed to sign him from Atalanta in January 2020. He scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in 74 games for Juventus. He won one Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana during his time at Juventus. Interestingly, Kulusevski's name was not included in Tottenham's announcement of released and retained players.
On the other hand, it has been confirmed that Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal and Clement Lenglet from Barcelona will leave Tottenham when their loan contracts expire this summer. Lucas Moura will also leave the club as a free agent at the end of the month.
There is ongoing speculation about Harry Kane's future, but Manchester United seems to have ended their interest in him due to Daniel Levy's high asking price. Kane's contract with Tottenham is valid until 2024, but Levy is reportedly demanding a very high fee for the 29-year-old player, who is also wanted by Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
