While Mac Allister is seen as a solid option for the central position, Szoboszlai provides Jurgen Klopp with an alternative for the more advanced role in a midfield three. As part of this refresh, Klopp has allowed James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave Anfield on free transfers.
Klopp is keen to continue strengthening his squad, and there is a possibility of another new arrival. However, there is uncertainty surrounding some of Klopp's current options. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have been linked with transfers to Saudi Arabia, but Klopp is unlikely to be in favor of parting ways with either player.
However, The Telegraph reports that Liverpool and Klopp have a different stance when it comes to Thiago, who has only one year remaining on his contract. The club is willing to consider realistic offers for the Spanish international before the end of the transfer window, but they do not intend to let him leave on a free transfer.
Thiago has been with Liverpool for the past three seasons, making 97 appearances across all competitions and contributing three goals and six assists. Although he has had influential moments during his time with the club, injuries have hampered his ability to secure a consistent place in the team. Thiago has not played more than 25 times in any of his three Premier League campaigns and completed the full 90 minutes in only half of his 18 top-flight appearances in the 2022-23 season.
With the arrival of Mac Allister, Thiago faces competition to regain his place in the team, especially after missing a significant portion of the previous season due to a hip injury. Despite the possibility of being a squad option for the upcoming season, Thiago has reportedly turned down an opportunity to move to the Saudi Pro League.
