Liverpool turned down a substantial £150 million offer from Al-Ittihad towards the end of the transfer window, securing Salah's stay with the club for the 2023-24 season. Salah has continued to demonstrate his importance to the team in the early part of the season, contributing six goals and four assists in 10 competitive appearances.
However, there remains uncertainty about his long-term future at the club. Salah has less than two years left on his current contract, and there's a belief that he might attract further interest from Saudi Arabia next summer. Michael Emenalo, associated with the Saudi Pro League, even openly stated that Salah is "welcome at any time," further fueling the speculation.
Although Liverpool resisted a significant offer from Saudi Arabia, they may find it challenging to do so again in the next transfer window. Consequently, Liverpool has already begun to explore potential replacements, and according to the Mirror, Leroy Sane is their top priority.
The report suggests that Liverpool is prepared to break its club transfer record of £80 million to entice Sane back to the Premier League. Sane, 27, previously had a successful stint with Manchester City, amassing 39 goals and 46 assists in 135 matches before his move to Bayern Munich in 2020. During his time with City, he clinched two Premier League titles, two League Cups, and an FA Cup.
However, Liverpool may face competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid for Sane's signature. Sane is under contract until June 2025 and has had an impressive start to the current season, scoring seven goals in 11 competitive matches.
