Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on a Premier League striker as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez this summer. Nunez, who joined the Reds for a club-record £85 million in 2022, has scored 33 goals and provided 17 assists in 96 appearances across all competitions.

The 24-year-old was a regular feature in Jurgen Klopp's final season at Anfield, contributing 18 goals and 13 assists in 54 matches, helping Liverpool win the EFL Cup and secure a third-place finish in the Premier League. However, Nunez's form dipped towards the end of the 2023-24 campaign, as he failed to score in his last 10 appearances and lost his regular starting spot due to inconsistent finishing.

Despite having four years left on his contract, Nunez has been linked with a potential move to La Liga giants Barcelona. According to The Sun, Liverpool have concerns about Nunez and might consider selling him to make room for a top target of their new manager, Arne Slot.

Slot is reportedly keen on Liverpool making a bid for Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, who is highly regarded by the newly appointed boss. Watkins recently signed a long-term contract with Villa in October, keeping him at the club until June 2028, and is not currently seeking a move away.
