Jadon Sancho is ready to inject some excitement into Stamford Bridge as he looks to follow in the footsteps of his Chelsea heroes. The 24-year-old England international has completed a loan move from Manchester United to Chelsea, where he will stay until the end of the season.

The deal, finalized in the early hours after transfer deadline day, sees Chelsea covering most of his wages with an obligation to sign him permanently next summer for a fee between £20-25 million.

In his first interview as a Chelsea player, Sancho shared his enthusiasm for the move, revealing that he idolized Chelsea legends Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard while growing up. "It's a great feeling to have the chance to play for this club like they did," he said, expressing his excitement about donning the blue shirt.

Sancho, born in South London, has represented England 23 times, though his last appearance for the national team was in 2021. His move to Manchester United in 2021, for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund, didn't go as planned.

Despite making 83 appearances over three seasons, his time at Old Trafford was marred by a public rift with manager Erik ten Hag, which eventually led to him training away from the first team. After a brief loan spell back at Dortmund in January, Sancho returned to United but found himself out of the squad for their opening Premier League games this season.

Now at Chelsea, Sancho is eager to make a fresh start under the guidance of head coach Enzo Maresca, a manager he respects for his work alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. "He spoke to me about the project he’s building here, and for a young player like myself, it’s exciting," Sancho remarked, eager to get started and make his mark at Stamford Bridge.
