Reports suggest that Real Madrid is actively keeping an eye on the developments surrounding Napoli's forward Victor Osimhen. With Karim Benzema approaching the later stages of his career, Los Blancos have been consistently linked with finding a potential successor for the French striker.

Despite Benzema's age of 35, Real Madrid has been unable to secure a world-class alternative, missing out on Kylian Mbappe last summer. While there are ongoing speculations about Real Madrid reigniting their interest in Mbappe, it is now claimed that a high-profile center forward will not be arriving at the Bernabeu before the 2023-24 season.

Currently, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and young Alvaro Rodriguez would be tasked with deputizing for Benzema when needed, with Mariano Diaz's contract set to expire at the end of June. Nevertheless, according to Fichajes, Real Madrid has not ruled out the possibility of pursuing a move for Osimhen in a future transfer window.

Osimhen, who recently played a pivotal role in Napoli's Serie A title win, scoring 23 goals and providing four assists, has attracted attention. However, with just over two years left on his contract, the 24-year-old Nigerian international has been linked with a potential move away from Napoli later this year.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has repeatedly stated that Osimhen will not be sold during the upcoming transfer window. While this may disappoint several Premier League clubs interested in making lucrative offers in the coming weeks, it could work in Real Madrid's favor for a transfer in 2024.

According to the report, Osimhen is currently third on Real Madrid's shortlist, behind Mbappe and Manchester City's Erling Braut Haaland.

Earlier this year, Osimhen expressed his dream of playing in the Premier League, which further fueled speculation linking him to clubs in that division. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are considered the most likely destinations if Napoli receives an offer they deem too good to refuse.

Napoli would demand a fee of at least €80m, the amount they agreed to pay Lille, including add-ons, when signing Osimhen in 2020.
