Marcus Rashford's underwhelming performance in the first two months of the 2023-24 season may result in him losing his spot in the club's starting lineup. Last season, the 25-year-old was in exceptional form for the Red Devils, netting 30 goals and providing 11 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions.

However, Rashford has struggled to replicate that form this season, managing just one goal in nine appearances, although he has contributed three assists. The England international, who was Manchester United's standout performer last season, has come under scrutiny this term, and reports suggest that his place in the starting lineup is no longer guaranteed.

According to The Mirror, at least one member of the club's coaching staff has expressed concerns about Rashford's body language, and there is believed to be ongoing discussions about his decision-making abilities. Rashford did provide an assist for Rasmus Hojlund's goal against Galatasaray, which gave the home side the lead.
However, he missed a golden opportunity of his own in the second half, opting to pass to Bruno Fernandes when he had a chance to shoot in the box, resulting in his cross being intercepted.

With the return of Antony from a leave of absence, and the availability of Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri as wide options, Rashford's position in the starting lineup is no longer guaranteed. Nevertheless, it would still be surprising to see him excluded from the XI for Saturday's Premier League clash against Brentford. Coach Ten Hag stated before the Galatasaray match that he continues to support Rashford despite his recent struggles.

"The facts are he's not scoring at this moment, but he's had opportunities, like against Brighton [& Hove Albion], where he had five or six occasions in a very good spot," Ten Hag told reporters.

"If he works hard and invests every day, with the right focus and if the team around him supplies and helps him and supports him with movement, then it will come and Marcus Rashford is a player who's capable of scoring a goal in every game. When he's coming in the right spots, he will score."
