Ramón Jesurún, the head of the Colombian Football Federation, and his son were arrested after a brawl at the Copa América final in Miami on Sunday.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the 71-year-old Jesurún and his 43-year-old son, Ramón Jamil Jesurún, are facing battery charges involving an official or employee.

The incident occurred after Colombia lost 0-1 to Argentina in extra time. Neither Jesurún nor his son has commented on the matter.

The Miami-Dade Police Department told the BBC that the altercation happened after the match at the Hard Rock Stadium. The Jesurúns were heading toward the field entrance when they became upset and started yelling at a security officer, who had been instructed to hold people back temporarily.

The officer placed his hand on Ramón Jamil Jesurún's chest to guide him back, which led Mr. Jesurún to push the officer. Ramón Jamil then grabbed the officer's neck, pulling him to the ground and hitting him. He also assaulted a female official who tried to intervene, and both men punched a security manager.

The Jesurún family was reportedly trying to get onto the pitch for the awards ceremony. The Colombian Football Federation has not commented on the situation.

The final, the premier football tournament in the Americas, was delayed by 80 minutes when fans without tickets forced their way into the stadium, leading to several arrests and injuries that required paramedic assistance.
